For more than two decades John has been a high performing Tourism and Leisure industry executive, holding senior executive and CEO roles spanning the breadth of the Tourism and Leisure Sector. John’s experience and leadership encompasses some of Australia’s most iconic tourism destinations and brands including Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Mt Buller in the Victorian High Country and the Ritz Carlton Hotel Company across Australia and Asia.
Throughout his executive career, John has come to be known for his exceptional values-based leadership skills and has repeatedly demonstrated his unique ability to develop strong and effective teams and leaders. He has led organisations to produce outstanding results; he delivers innovative solutions and provides high quality services and experiences for customers.
John has amassed an arsenal of leadership, hospitality and real estate experience. With his 5 years spent at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Company, 13 years spent with Hamilton Island Enterprises and 7 years spent with Mt Buller & Mt Stirling resorts, John has a strong understanding of, and capability in, all facets of domestic and international tourism, destination development and commercial and property development operations. The scope of John’s experience ranges from resort and community planning, property development, land release and real estate operations through to front-of-house resort and retail operations and ancillary aspects of community facility management.
John’s skills and experience have been augmented through continued executive education at both the prestigious Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School.
John is an active and sought-after Board member with Board appointments spanning many sectors including Regional and State Tourism, Commercial Property Development, the Arts and Culture, Emergency Services, Health Services, Training & Education, and Community Engagement and Wellbeing.
